Inuyasha Movie 2: Kagami no Naka no Mugenjo Summary

Summary by: Jennor

Human Inuyasha

The gang is about to face Naraku for a battle. Inuyasha, who is in his human form, is inside a cabin in the forest with Kagome and Myouga. Kagome is readying her bow and arrows to take part in the battle, however, since Inuyasha is weary of Naraku finding out when his "weakness" is (the night of the full moon), he is forced to stay inside a small shack until the sunrise.

Kagome is suspicious

Kagome heads out of the shack and notices that the night is "way too quiet" for her liking. Just as she says that, the scene shifts to show Naraku shrouded by the baboon pelt, running away from Sango's vengeful Hiraikotsu.  Naraku counter-attacks her assault and grows some tentacles to hurt Sango. However, Kirara quickly becomes aware of this and tries to protect Sango by attacking Naraku. Thanks to Kirara's attack, Naraku spews out miasma, and Sango quickly reacts attack him with her katana but she is only able to cut off one of the tentacles of his body. Naraku then makes his escape into the bushes and Sango, atop Kirara, follows suit and informs a waiting Miroku that Naraku "is coming [his] way."

Miroku vs Saimyoushous

With his right hand at the ready, Miroku awaits the fleeing Naraku among the shrubbery. Miroku is readies his wind tunnel to finally have his revenge with Naraku for having cursed his family for three generations. But Naraku, deceptive as ever, sends some Saimyoushou Miroku's way and he quickly closes up his wind tunnel to prevent getting poisoned from them.  Naraku, who has abandoned his pelt by this point, takes Miroku by the throat with a tentacle. However, a sacred arrow purifies and destroys the tentacle that is strangling Miroku.

Naraku is hit by Kagome's arrow

Naraku turns around, and much to his chagrin, Kagome is standing, bow and arrow in hand, ready to shoot again and bring him down.  Kagome's next arrow pierces Naraku along his middle, but his body transforms again into a mass of tentacles to protect him, however this makes an explosion that sends the gang flying away. Shippo who transforms into the well-loved pink ball and catches Kagome, and Miroku flies off and is caught by Sango and Kirara.

Naraku as a spider

Sadly though, this is not the end of Naraku. As the haze from the explosion clears up, this reveals a rather strange creature that has the odd form of an ugly-ass spider. As Kagome notices it, she wonders if it is "Naraku's true form" since it is a spider shaped like the burn on his back. Sango, Kirara and Miroku come to Kagome's side and Sango asks Kagome where Inuyasha is, to which Kagome replies with a "not yet" (since the sun has yet to come up).

Even mid-battle Miroku misbehaves

Since there's no getting around this battle, they decide to go for it and fight without Inuyasha. Sango, Miroku and Kirara hurry off to attack Naraku. Sango tries to use her Hiraikotsu, but a barrier that the spider has around itself deflects her weapon. Seeing this, Shippo courages up and decides to give it a go. He transforms into an 'eagle', and with Kagome on his back, rushes to where Naraku is. But all in all, he's still "just a kid" and wimps out when Naraku comes to them. Naraku spews out miasmic ichor from its mouth toward Kagome and Shippo's way. Seeing this, Sango takes charge and urges Kirara to dive under the spider's belly so she could attack, but Miroku's cursed hand decides to take a detour and fondle Sango's bottom (you can imagine what follows after).

Inuyasha awaits sunrise

Meanwhile, Inuyasha has been peeking from the shack the ongoing battle and becomes frustrated with the current outcome. He can't sit around and just watch his friends risk themselves like that like if it were nothing. He grabs Tetsusaiga and decides to go out despite Myouga's retorts.

Naraku attacking

By this point, Naraku is following Shippo and Kagome who are headed in the direction of the shack. And just as they are about to crash into it, Shippo flies higher to avoid crashing, but Naraku does.  Kagome worries about Inuyasha, who was still hiding in the shack from Naraku. But as this happens, the sun begins to rise. And through the debris of the tattered shack, doggy ears sitting on top of someone's head become visible.

Inuyasha arrives

Inuyasha smugly comes out of the shack, with Tetsusaiga in hand, and apologizing to Naraku for "keeping [him] waiting."

Inuyasha begins to run toward Naraku to face him for once and for all. Myouga, who oddly enough is still with Inuyasha, suggests that he use the Tetsusaiga to break the barrier, and just after saying so, he flees. Inuyasha  uses the red Tetsusaiga and easily breaks Naraku's barrier. Seeing this opening, Sango and Miroku, who still are atop Kirara, decide to go for Naraku's legs. Sango takes the ones on the left side, while Miroku attacks the ones on the right. The creature collapses as its legs are minced by the duo.

Inuyasha attacks Naraku

Kagome then lands near Inuyasha, and he quickly demands to know where the jewel shard is located. As if we were looking through Kagome's eyes, a light lilac light shines through Naraku's back, along where the spider mark is. Not hesitating one second, Inuyasha jumps toward Naraku, Tetsusaiga hoisted downward so as to stab Naraku's back. Just as Inuyasha is pulling Tetsusaiga out of Naraku's back, miasma starts flowing out of his body and pieces of Naraku's flesh fly around and the pieces of flesh being to merge and surround Inuyasha. He quickly tells Kagome to be careful while Naraku informs Inuyasha that he wishes to make our dear hanyou, a part of his disgusting body.

Inuyasha cuts Naraku's tentacles

As the gang continues to attack the mass that has become Naraku's body, but the more they attack, the more miasma flows out of the tentacles. Inuyasha, caught in the middle of the mass, uses Tetsusaiga to cut the tentacles down and move away. Kagome suggests that he "keep moving" to avoid "getting caught again."

Naraku dies

A little sprout emerges from the green mass of flesh, and from it, buds yet again, the 'human-like' form of Naraku. Inuyasha and Naraku exchange remarks about how they will kill each other off and Miroku throws his Shakujou to Sango so she could attack Naraku with it and Hiraikotsu  at the same time. With it, Sango is able to cut through Naraku's body with ease and he remarks that they are all "retched fools." Kagome and Inuyasha, not standing idle, attack as well. Inuyasha uses his Wind Scar while Kagome shoots a sacred arrow at Naraku. The arrow purifies Naraku and the Wind Scar hashes up his body.

Kagura and Kanna feel Naraku's death

Kikyou, Sesshomaru, Kohaku, Kanna and Kagura (whose hearts have begun to beat again) become of aware that Naraku's presence is gone. Kanna utters bluntly that Naraku is dead.

Miroku's Kazaana is closed

The gang begins to ask one another if they had really defeated Naraku, and Miroku looks at his right hand and notices that is Wind Tunnel is closing up until it vanishes from his palm. The gang is all surprised to see that indeed, the Wind Tunnel "has disappeared."

Kanna in a forest

Kanna and Kagura are walking along an eerie forest, and Kagura asks Kanna what she expects to "find in a place like this." Kanna disregards Kagura's question, and asks her instead what she wishes for. Kagura replies that it is freedom, "for she is the winded self," but Kanna only replies that her wish would come true.

A strange man

Night has fallen, and a young man emerges from the bushes, and he remarks that he is looking for Mt. Fuji, but that he is lost. A sigh is heard, and the man looks toward where he thinks the sound came from. Kagome, Sango and Shippo's clothes are neatly piled up, and they appear to be bathing in a hot spring, just relaxing.

Kagome and Shippou

Sango asks Kagome what are her plans now that Naraku is dead, to which Kagome only says that she still has to look for the Jewel Shards to complete the Shikon Jewel. However, she begins to ponder what she will do once she collects all the shards and what will be the reason for returning to the Feudal Era. However, she changes her train of thought and informs Sango that they have to look for Kohaku.

Miroku finds the guy peeping at the girls

Little do these two ladies know that they have a peeping Tom about them. The young man from the bushes is peering, and Miroku is quick to notice, but his good intention are misunderstood by Kagome and Sango who think it was Miroku the one peeping. And Inuyasha, hearing noise, rushes to see what the deal was only to be sat by Kagome because he was being such a "pervert."

Kagura and Kanna in the cave

Kagura and Kanna appear once again, only this time they are inside a cave that holds a mirror.  Kanna beings reciting a poem: "To meet nevermore. Tears of sorrow overflow deep within my heart, what good this potion of life, all is but dust in the wind." Kagura uses her kosode to wipe the grime off the mirror in the cave, and then looking through Kanna's mirror, the waxing moon instantly turns into a full moon.

Kaguya in the mirror

A light bounces off from both mirrors and toward the moon, and a voice begins to speak through the mirror uttering that "Naraku has died" and that now "all living creatures in this world must die and that eternal night shall be mine." The voice claims to be the Princess of the Heavens, Kaguya.

A castle rises from the waters

On the water, a castle beings to emerge, and Kaguya refers to it as the Dream Castle of the Pentacle Mirrors. She also informs Kagura that her freedom "is but a fleeting illusion" and that she will show Kagura "everlasting freedom" claiming that she can grant Kagura's true wish. Kagura replies saying that it is "something to do to pass the time."

Hoyo gives Kagome some medicine

Back in Kagome's time period, she is at school and her teacher is reading the same poem that Kanna had uttered to the mirror in the cave. Kagome is but fast asleep in her desk, however. After school is over, Kagome is walking on the street with her three friends, Eriri, Yuka and Ayumi, and they are all commenting on the tale that their teacher read aloud. Kagome ponders, after listening that Princess Kaguya had fled to the moon after dissing all her suitors, how much longer will she be able to travel between the two eras. Hoyo approaches them and gives Kagome a gift for her health and some tickets for a fair, but miraculously, Souta appears with information about Inuyasha. Kagome quickly says goodbye to her friends and rushes off with Souta, until they stop infront of a bunch of dogs in cages.

Souta talks to Kagome

Souta tells Kagome that Inuyasha came to the shrine, but he suddenly disappeared, and Kagome reproaches Souta for letting Inuyasha "out of the house." Annoyed with the barking dogs nearby, Kagome tells them to "be quiet and sit!" and Inuyasha's cover is blown for he was also 'sat.'

Inuyasha and Kagome argue

After asking what he was doing there, Inuyasha tells Kagome that he came back for her since she had taken so long to return. However, Kagome ignores him because she becomes worried about people finding out about Inuyasha's strange appearance and pushes him into a photo booth to hide. Inside the photo booth, Kagome and Inuyasha engage in a fight because Kagome had spent too much time in her era. Souta on the other hand, feeds the photo booth some coins so there's at least some "memory about how dumb [those two] look."

Kanna gets an item from the river

Back in the Feudal Era, Kagura and Kanna are in dreary canyon. Kagura is holding a branch in her hands and Kanna has gotten something out of the river in the shape of a small ball. Kagura then says that the object is the "Crystal from the Dragon's Neck."

Kikyou

Meanwhile, Kikyou is walking along a deteriorated forest. She stops for a bit and notices that Naraku's aura has been replaced by that of another demon and decides that she will discover whose it is.

Back again near Mount Fuji, Kagura throws the Crystal of the Dragon's Neck into the lake. Likewise, Kanna throws the Jeweled Spring into the lake as well. It appears that there are five objects that need to be obtained, for Princess Kaguya says that three more remain after Kagura and Kanna drop the objects in the water. Kagura asks Kanna then which object will they go for now, to which Kanna responds that they must look for "he who wears cloth of the fire rat."

Kagome gives Inuyasha a locket

Kagome and Inuyasha are back in the Sacred Forest. Kagome is seen cutting a picture from the photo booth to make it fit into a locket that she gives to Inuyasha.  However, he refuses to use it because he "wouldn't be caught dead wearing a thing like [that]" and gives the locket back. Kagome then tells him he is a jerk and shoves the locket back into Inuyasha's hands.

Inuyasha

Inuyasha then picks up what he thinks is Naraku's scent, which makes him think that Naraku is somehow still alive. However, much to Inuyasha's hopes, it isn't Naraku but Kanna and Kagura that have shown up. He thinks at first that they are back to avenge Naraku's death, but Kagura assures him that she is not after saying that Naraku is out of her life now. However, battle ensures and, using her Dance of Blades, Kagura snatches a sleeve from Inuyasha's fire rat kosode. But once Kagura announces that she has the cloth of the fire rat, a green full moon appears and a pentacle shows up on Kanna's mirror. Inside the mirror, Princess Kaguya appears, saying that she is the "ruler of eternal night."

Kagura

Inuyasha quickly senses that Kaguya is dangerous, to which Kaguya only laughs. However, she tells Inuyasha that she knows his deepest desires (becoming a "despicable beast.")

Inuyasha

Inuyasha then uses his Wind Scar to attack, but much to his dismay, a barrier is protecting Kanna and Kagura.  However, this doesn't stop Inuyasha. He uses his Backlash Wave to deflect Kagura's Dance of the Dragon. However, a black orb in the sky absorbs Inuyasha's attack and deflects it back to him. Kagome then sits Inuyasha so he is not hurt by his deflected attack. Meanwhile, Kagura and Kanna (holding the mirror), flee. But just as they leave, Kaguya realizes that the "flow of time" is different around Kagome, but she decides since she already has what she had come looking for (the sleeve of the fire rat).

Yet again near Mount Fuji, another of the five objects Kaguya is looking for is found and apparently only two more remain.  And oddly enough, the moon is still sparkling whole in the sky.

Miroku and Mushin

Back with Miroku, he is praying in his father's grave. The monk Mushin is with him. Apparently, now that Naraku is dead, Miroku thinks that his purpose is to "ease the heart of the beauties scattered about this land." However, his thought is severed by the image of Sango's wrath. Apparently, even if she is away, her "jealous wrath" still haunts his "every thought."

Miroku with a paper

Inside Mushin's temple, Mushin tells Miroku that he has something to give to him. Turns out that Miroku's grandfather had left him with orders to give the descendant that killed Naraku his last testament. Oddly, the box of the testament has a pentacle on its lid; however, Miroku opens it and takes the paper inside it to read it without much thought.

Sango rescues Kohaku

Traveling upon Kirara, Sango is ready to head home, but just as she is telling Kirara where to head, Kirara lunges forward toward a forest. Within the forest, Kohaku is running from some pig-demons that are after his Jewel Shard. Kohaku has been badly hurt, and was even shot with an arrow through his right thigh. At this very moment that Kohaku is downed by these demons, Hikaikotsu slashes right though the demons and 'slays' them. She then rescues Kohaku and takes him with her atop Kirara.

Kikyou and a village girl

Walking through a village, Kikyou notices that all the villagers have been slain. She continues to walk through it and sees a young girl who is dying. She inquires what had happened there, to which the girl responds that some demons had attacked the village and that as that happened, the head priest had given her the Stone Bowl of Budha to safeguard.  The girl then tells Kikyou to guard it well because it is what the demons are looking for, and quickly after, the girl dies.

Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippou

Meanwhile, Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippo decide to go after Kaguya even though Sango and Miroku are not with them yet.  They come to a bridge where a young man is getting mugged by bandits. Apparently, he is on an important mission. Inuyasha tries to cross the bridge like there is no bandits blocking it and the bandits demand of Inuyasha to bow down to them. He, on the other hand is not up for that, so he ends up beating them all up. The young man then thanks Inuyasha for having "come to [his] rescue." Kagome quickly notices the resemblance between this young man and Hojou's, and oddly enough, the young man informs her that indeed his name is Hojou (Akitoki). Kagome goes on a limb pondering if he could be an ancestor of the boy in her time period (something that she confirms once he gifts them oranges for their health).

Akitoki

The pack that Akitoki was carrying slung on his back is splayed on the bridge, and Kagome notices that inside it, there is an extremely beautiful piece of fabric. Akitoki tells Kagome that it is a special family heirloom, the "Celestial Robe." Kagome then relates that Celestial Robe with "the famous one." Akitoki then bids goodbye to the threesome; however, he's still clumsy as ever so he sticks with three.

Miroku and Hachi

Back in Mushin's temple, Miroku is sharing food with Hachi, and remarks that the moon has not waned for a long time, suggesting that something is off. He then also says that this same phenomenon had occurred fifty years ago, too. He tells Hachi that his grandfather had put a spell on a demon that made the full moon appear night after night. Hachi instantly thinks that Miroku is talking about Naraku, but Miroku reminds him that Naraku is dead.

Miroku then tells Hachi that he has been thinking of going back to his grandfather's grave, to which Hachi makes the connection that Miroku only summoned him to take him to his grandfather's grave. However, Hachi seems hesitant about it by saying that the full moon is not bothering anyone. But this does matter to Miroku after having read in his grandfather's will that the demon that he had put to sleep "stops time without care or remorse, and destroys all living beings." Miroku then nicely asks Hachi to take him to his grandfather's grave, to which Hachi declines (seeing that the Wind Tunnel bribe no longer works for Miroku). So Miroku takes Hachi for a "short walk" from which Hachi returns happily agreeing to do Miroku's will.

Back in the demon slayer's village, Sango is caring for Kohaku's wounds. She also notices that the moon has yet to begin to wane. Sango then walks back into a hut where Kohaku is sleeping. Sitting beside him, she notices that there is a lump on his back and she touches it lightly, but apparently her touch hurt Kohaku and wakes him up. Apparently, Kohaku does not remember much, not even the place where he is in. He apologizes to Sango for this, to which she assures him that he should not worry. Sango then begins to ponder that even though Naraku is dead, Kohaku is still within his grasp since he is still tormented by the memory of killing his father and the demon slayers. After a while of just being with each other, Kohaku mumbles out the word 'sister' to Sango, something that utterly surprises her. Apparently, whenever Kohaku remembers that Sango is his sister, the memory of his sins return.

Kirara begins to growl at something, and rapidly races out of the hut's door and transforms. Kagura has appeared looking for the "Swallow's Cowrie Shell" that Kohaku seemingly possesses. Using the Dance of the Dragon, Kagura attacks the siblings and destroys the place where they were. Kohaku and Sango are trapped by the whirlwind of Kagura's attack and are deliberately separated by the attack. Kagura takes this chance to attack Kohaku on the spot where he is carrying the object she is looking for. With her Dance of Blades, she takes the Swallow's Cowrie Shell from Kohaku and flees.

After Kagura has left, Kohaku helps Sango retrieve her Hiraikotsu from the debris. He tells Sango that things will get bad now that the Swallow's Cowrie Shell has fallen into the wrong hands because "the spell will be broken."

Meanwhile, Kagura takes the shell to Kanna, who drops it into the lake just as she did with the other three gifts. Then Kagura says that only one more object remains, the "Stone Bowl of Buddha."

Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippou and Akitoki are sitting under a tree having lunch. Kagome asks Akitoki where he is headed; however, at first he refuses to tell her because she is a "stranger." But with much coercion (using ramen), Akitoki tells her that he is headed to Mount Fuji to throw the Celestial Robe into the crater. Apparently, monk Miatsu had come to the Hojou family to warn them that when the full moon shines for many, many nights, the Celestial Robe must be thrown into the crater of Mount Fuji to prevent great calamity from falling to the land. Kagome then remembers the story she was learning in school about Princess Kaguya and the robe. Princess Kaguya had maidens that dressed her in a Celestial Robe.  Inuyasha then remembers that the Kaguya he met reeked of disaster.

Inside a forest, Kikyo is wandering through when she meets Kagura. Upon enquiring if "this is Naraku's doing" and Kagura reassuring her that he is dead, Kikyo hands over to Kagura the Stone Bowl of Buddha without any hesitation. This takes kagura by surprise since she didn't expect Kikyo to be so gifting.

Miroku has gone back to his grandfather's grave, where he met an old villager that took him into his home to relate a story to him. Apparently, there is a legend that has been passed down in that village about a heavenly being was bathing in a spring by the village. A man who saw her bathing, stole her Celestial Robe that she had left hanging on a tree branch. The celestial being became enraged at this and began to slay one villager after another, until monk Miatsu came into the village and sealed the being into a mirror, the "Mirror of Life."

Miroku begins to wonder if the being was indeed a celestial being, or just a demon that had disguised itself as one. The old man replies that he doesn't know, but that he is sure that the robe that was stolen was indeed genuine. Hachi then asks if the robe still exists in the village, but the old man replies that nobody knows where it is now.

Miroku then enquires about the Mirror of Life. The old man informs him that it was placed in an altar with a Devine Sprig in the Forest of Illusions in the Shrine of the Mirror of Life.

Kagura and Kanna then appear back at the lake, where Kagura dips in the Stone Bowl of Buddha. Now, Kaguya's seal has been broken and the pentacle on the Mirror of Life begins to recede. Petals emerge from within the mirror and take the shape of Kaguya.

Seeing that Kaguya is free now, Kagura asks for her freedom, to which Kagura replies with a "not yet." Apparently, there is still one more thing that she requires of Kagura.

In the mean time, Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippou and Akitoki are still sitting beneath the same tree. However, Shippou and Akitoki appear to be dozing off while Inuyasha cares for the fire and Kagome is studying the story of Princess Kaguya on a textbook. Allegedly, Princess Kaguya had demanded that her suitors go through rigorous tasks that include the Cloth of the Fire Rat, the Jeweled Sprig, the Crystal from the Dragon's Neck, the Stone Bowl of Buddha, and the Swallow's Cowrie Shell. This makes her realize that this was the reason why Kagura had come looking for a piece of Inuyasha's kimono.

In the back, Shippou comments to Akitoki that Inuyasha and Kagome make a "cozy twosome." To which Akitoki glumly replies with "alas, unrequited love." It seems he had fallen in love with Kagome, too. He then confesses that he was the peeping tom back when Kagome and Sango were bathing in the spring. Shippou takes this as a way to blackmail Akitoki into being his slave in return of Shippou's silence regarding Shippou's knowledge about who the peeping tom was.

Kagome and Inuyasha begin to talk to one another. Kagome begins by saying that perhaps Princess Kaguya did not want to return to the moon as the legend suggested that she did. Inuyasha then asks her what is she talking about, and immediately, shooting stars race through the night sky. Kagome is distracted by this and tells Inuyasha to hurry and make a wish.

Kagome then asks Inuyasha if he still wants to become a demon, to which he replies that "of course [he] do[es]." She reminds him that he is already pretty strong, but he dismisses the comment by telling her to be quiet because he has already made up his mind about becoming a full-fledged demon. However, Kagome keeps on and tells him that in her opinion, there's nothing wrong with him staying a half-demon, and that honestly, she likes him just the way he is. But Inuyasha kills the moment yet again by saying that that is "ridiculous" and turns away. Kagome gets angered and forces him to look her way, but just as Inuyasha is turning his head, she sees something in his gaze that surprises her. Kagome is dumbfounded, to which Inuyasha asks, "What's wrong now?" and Kagome replies simply with an "Inuyasha, you just…"

However, the couple is abruptly interrupted by Kaguya's presence. She comes saying that the time finally has come to behold the robe of heavens drape around her shoulders, and that for them; it is but a deep sadness that she feels.

Kaguya chanting

She has come looking for the Celestial Robe, the very object that Akitoki is currently baring with him. Inuyasha quickly attacks her saying that she will not get it. Kaguya then beings chanting an incantation that makes Inuyasha's attack vanish. She then attacks him with her mirror and throws him back against a tree and retrains him with the tree's roots. In trying to help out Inuyasha, Akitoki falls and his pouch topples over the ground, revealing the Celestial Robe. Kaguya yet again chants another incantation, but her attention is broken by Kagome's Sacred Arrow that partly destroys her sleeve. Kagome then goes to Inuyasha and demands Kaguya to release him, pointing another arrow in her direction. Since Kaguya isn't about to let the hanyou go, Kagome releases the arrow, which is directed toward the mirror. Kaguya chants again, and the arrow is absorbed by the mirror and redirected toward Inuyasha.

Kagome can't let this happen, so she tosses her bow to one side and rushes to protect Inuyasha from her arrow. Akitoki tells Kagome to watch out and throws the Celestial Robe in her direction; however, the Sacred Arrow gets caught up with the fabric, and stabs Kagome on the back. Everybody is surprised, especially Inuyasha who begins to scream her name. Kagome looks up to Inuyasha to tell him that she is thankful that he is all right. Inuyasha reprimands her asking her why did she do that and why didn't she stay away. Kagome tells Inuyasha that it is all right, and that it's only okay of her to do since he is always saying her anyway. Kagome then falls unconscious at the base of the tree and Inuyasha starts to wrestle with the roots that are holding him for his freedom, all the while screaming Kagome's name.

Kaguya finds this amusing, and Inuyasha in a very angered tone informs Kaguya that if something happens to Kagome, she will regret the day that she ever met him. Kaguya then tells Inuyasha that he can rest assured because she wouldn't let Kagome die so easily. Kaguya then asks Inuyasha if he would become her servant, but all he wants from her is to release him. However, she doesn't do that but instead takes Kagome with her. She then tells Inuyasha to come to her Dream Castle, since apparently that is where she is taking Kagome.

When Kaguya leaves, Inuyasha is freed and he tries to go after her, but Kaguya has already disappeared. Inuyasha asks Shippou if he knows where the Dream Castle is, but he doesn't. However, Akitoki remembers that a monk came telling his family that the castle of the being laid in Lake Motosu and it is unreachable by mortals.

Miroku is traveling atop Hachi and he asks his servant why his grandfather didn't use his Wind Tunnel to destroy Kaguya, to which Hachi replies that it is obvious why he didn't do so because Kaguya is a real beauty. They then arrive at the cave of the Shrine of the Mirror of Life. Miroku then notices that somebody has arrived before them, and confronts the "intruder." However the said intruder begins to beat Miroku up, until he notices that it is Sango and tells her to stop attacking him. Miroku then hugs Sango tightly, saying that he's "longed" to see her. She quickly gets embarrassed after seeing that Hachi and Kohaku are in front of them. Miroku once again fondles Sango, which earns him a well-deserved slap.

They head over to the Shrine of the Mirror of Life, only to see that the Mirror and the Jeweled Spring are both gone. Sango informs Miroku then that the Swallow's Cowrie Shell is also gone and that Kagura had come to take it from Kohaku. Hachi asks Miroku if the Cowrie Shell was important to break the spell, to which Miroku says that it was because it was one of the five treasures that represent the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water). Sango pitches in saying that one of the treasures is the Cloth of the Fire Rat, the same that Inuyasha wears. They then decide to meet up with Inuyasha.

The foursome emerges from the cave and out into Lake Motosu, from which somehow, a castle has appeared. Miroku can also sense an immense demonic aura. From around the five lakes that surround Mount Fuji, lights from the five elements rise to the heavens to form a pentacle, which makes the Dream Castle transform once again.

Miroku then realizes that the creature that they are fighting is indeed Kaguya.

Back in the forest, Inuyasha is hurrying to find Kagome, but stops momentarily to assess the pentacle that has appeared in the sky. Shippou and Akitoki then catch up with Inuysha using Kagome's bike. Akitoki begins to wimp out on going to look for Kagome in the Dream Castle after Shippou asks Inuyasha if they are going. Inuyasha then grows impatient and tells the two that if they don't want to face danger, then they should stay out of the way. Then he heads off toward the pentacle.

Shippou and Akitoki are stranded in the middle of the forest and decide to go off after Inuyasha once Shippou tells Akitoki that they are worse there in the plain sight of demons than if they went off after Inuyasha. Therefore, they hurry off after the hanyou.

Back in lake Motosu, Kaguya is awating Inuyasha. It seems that she is eager to meet him because she has even donned a much less conservative apparel. She goes inside the castle and in there, she imprisons Kagome within another pentacle. It appears that Kagome is still wearing the Celestial Robe about her shoulders.

Back in lake Motosu, Sango and Kohaku (atop Kirara) dive down near the Dream Castle. Kaguya sees this through her mirror and attacks Kirara with a wall of fire that emerges from the water. And Miroku traveling over Hachi, experience the same thing, and Hachi gets burned from the fire.

Sango tries yet again to reach the Castle of Dreams, but every time she gets anywhere near, the is attacked by the walls of flames. Sango looks down at the water and notices that there is something in it, but she gets distracted for a second, and gets hit by a flame. Luckly, Shippou is near and, transformed into the pink bulb, is able to catch Sango who had flown off Kirara.

Inuyasha then jumps out of the forest, looking for Kagome. Kaguya sees this too through her mirror and grins because Inuyasha has finally "shown [him]self." From within the castle, Kagome is able to hear Inuyasha's voice calling to her. She begins to stir, and the arrow in her back is destroyed and the wound heals. But with this, the Celestial Robe also falls off her shoulders and onto the ground. She then begins to scream for Inuyasha.

Kaguya, upon seeing this, is surprised to see the power of the Celestial Robe and decides to take it.

Meanwhile, Inuyasha rushes to save Kagome, but as he is drifting over the water, he is also attacked, but this time it is a three-headed dragon that attacks him. Inuyasha begins to have trouble battling the dragons because when one stops coming at him and he tries to take out Tetsusaiga, another dragon attacks him. He then tries to use his Wind Scar to bring the beat down, but it will take too long for him to beat it, so he decides to use his Backlash Wave. However, the dragons begin to attack him once more from all over the place, and Inuyasha is unable to use his attack.

From inside the castle, however, Kaguya is donning the Celestial Robe since it will grant her "limitless power." Kagura is nearby and tells Kaguya that the Celestial Robe does not suit a fake Celestial being, implying that Kaguya may indeed not be a Celestial being herself.

Back outside the castle, Inuyasha is still battling the three dragons. As one lunges his way, Inuyasha jumps on one of the dragons, thinking that they wouldn't attack each other. However, they do and in the flurry of lunges and attacks, Inuyasha is sent flying off and submerges deep into the water where he can see that the three dragons are indeed connected through their bodies by a glowing base. So Inuyasha becomes intent in destroying the base of the dragons to get rid of them.

On the far edge of the forest, Kikyou is aiming with her bow toward where the dragons are. When Inuyasha uses his Wind Scar, Kikyou shoots, and the arrow parts an opening in the water for the Wind Scar and it, to attack the base of the dragons at the same time. This destroys all three dragons.

Inuyasha turns toward the direction where the arrow appeared from, only to see that it was Kikyou that shot it. She then leaves, saying that she will leave everything in his hands.

After a bit shaking water off himself like a little doggie, Inuyasha rushes back toward the castle.

Inside the Dream Castle, Kagura is taunting Kaguya telling her that her act is finally coming down. Kagome overhears and realizes that Kaguya is indeed not a celestial being as she made herself be. Kagura then compares Kaguya to Naraku because both had consumed the flesh of other demons to increase their own strengths. Kagura even thinks that Kaguya devoured the real celestial maiden to gain immortality. Kagura even suggests that she thinks Naraku wanted Kaguya's body to make himself stronger. Kaguya gets angered and retorts that she hates all these "half demons."

Kagura then begins to confront Kaguya because she's just like Naraku and Kagura is finally getting tired of Kaguya's antics. Kanna then uses her mirror to try and suck the soul out of Kaguya's body. However this doesn't work and Kaguya uses the Celestial Robe and an incantation to summon a pentacle that sends Kagura and Kanna deep into the lake.

Back on dry land, Shippou and Akitoki are using Kagome's first aid kit to heal Sango, Miroku, Shippou, Kohaku and Kirara's injuries. Afterwards, Miroku draws the Wind Tunnel on his palm once again, saying that he doesn't feel right without it.

Inuyasha continues climbing along the Castle of Dreams until he gets to the top of the structure. He enters the castle where Kaguya appears to be at, and when he does, Kaguya is ready to attack him. Kagome urges Inuyasha to stay away since she is afraid Kaguya will do the same as she did with Kagura and Kanna, with Inuyasha. Kaguya uses the power of the Mirror of Stillness to make time stop all around.

On the outside of the Castle, Sango, Miroku, Shippou, Kohaku and Kirara are the only ones that are not affected by Kaguya's Mirror of Stillness. They then figure out that thanks to Kagome's things that come from the future, they are unaffected by Kaguya's attack. Miroku thinks that Kagome's things are able to put up a time barrier that protects them from the stillness. So they decide to plaster themselves with all the contents in the first aid kit. They then head toward the castle.

Within the castle, Inuyasha is sprawled on the floor after receiving Kaguya's attack. He then gets up and Kaguya is taken by surprise that her attack did not work on Inuyasha. There is something shining through his kimono and upon closer look, Kagome realizes that Inuyasha is wearing the locket she gave to him even though he said he did not want it.

Tetsusaiga then turns bright red, and attacks Kaguya, but it seems his attack did not do anything at first but ultimately it appears that Kaguya had placed an illusion on Inuyasha and what the red Tetsusaiga had destroyed was just that.

Inuyasha reappears in "the Dream Castle beyond the Mirror." Sango, Miroku, Kohaku and Kirara join him. When they ask where the castle has disappeared to, Inuyasha tells them to look beneath them, where the castle is apparently reflected, as if in a mirror. Inuyasha then uses his red Tetsusaiga to break the barrier that keeps the castle hidden within the mirror. A gap in the barrier begins to open and the gang hop in. They all reappear inside the real castle.

Meanwhile, Kagome and Kaguya begin to talk. Kagome starts asking why Kaguya wants to stop time, for which she responds "only humans are enamored by the passage of time." Kaguya then tells Kagome not to worry because she will soon eat her because she possesses the sacred powers of a priestess and can put up a barrier against time.

However, just as Kaguya is about to swallow Kagome, Inuyasha interrupts her. Kaguya takes one of the pins in her hair that oddly enough turns into a sword to battle against Inuyasha's Tetsusaiga. The rest of the gang appear and inform Kagome that they are all right thanks to get medical supplies that protected them with a time barrier.

Kaguya and Inuyasha are still fighting. Kaguya tells Inuyasha that she intends on making him her servant. Inuyasha tries to slash Kaguya with his sword, but she easily holds off his attack by holding Tetsusaiga with the palm of her hand. She then pulls the Tetsusaiga toward herself and yanks it out of Inuyasha's hand and into the wall behind them. Inuyasha is left unarmed.

Miroku and Sango decide to help out. Miroku uses his Sacred Sutras against Kaguya while Sango uses her Hiraikotsu.  Miroku's Sutras are easily disintegrated, while Sango's Hiraikotsu is easily blocked by Kaguya's sword. Kaguya uses another incantation to redirect the Hiraikotsu in Sango's way and it hits Sango and Kohaku directly in their middles.

Inuyasha then tries to attack Kaguya once more with his Iron Reaver Soul Stealer, however, she is swifter and notices and a vein grown out from her arm. She then uses it to stab Inuyasha in the chest. Miroku is also hurt in the arm with the vein and Shippou tries to protect him but wimps out last minute.

Kaguya then heads toward her mirror and takes a hold of it, and turns it toward Inuyasha so he can take a good look at the "dark spirit that lurks within [his] heart." Inuyasha's demonic side is then reflected within the mirror. Inuyasha just 'kehs' it off without much trouble. Kaguya then tells him that that form in the mirror is what he truly wants to achieve and that she will grant him his wish.

Kaguya then starts chanting her incantation that makes the demonic Inuyasha in the mirror and the real Inuyasha begin to pulsate. Inuyasha begins to fall subject to Kaguya's incantation, and despite his struggles, he starts to turn into a full-demon after Kaguya releases his true form from the mirror. Slowly, Inuyasha's human blood is getting sealed into the mirror.

Miroku tells Shippou that this time is different from before because now if he turns into a full demon, he will no longer be able to transform into a half demon again.

Meanwhile, Shippou tries to set Kagome free, but her restraints are putting up a barrier that will not let anyone release her. Miroku then tries to talk Inuyasha out of transforming, but Inuyasha attacks him. Miroku then tells Kagome that Inuyasha is still unsure of what he wants, and that the only person who can get to him now is her.

The Inuyasha in the mirror is slowly starting to take the form of the human Inuyasha. Kagome can't take it any longer and she begins to scream to Inuyasha to stop transforming. At this very moment, her Jewel Shards begin to shine, and she tells Shippou to get her Shards and throw the whole bottle at her.

With the help of the Shards and Kagome's strength, she is able to break free of the pentacle's seal that held her. She then rushes to Inuyasha and hugs him, hoping that it would somehow prevent him from transforming any further. But he is too far-gone and can't listen to her. Kagome looks up to the beast-driven Inuyasa and notices that even his eyes have changed. Kaguya then tells Kagome that she can try all she wants, but that Inuyasha's human heart is now locked within the mirror.

Kagome decides to keep on trying to get through to him. She tells Inuyasha that she loves him as a half demon and it seems that Inuyasha starts getting flashbacks of when Kagome was telling him by the fireside that there was nothing wrong with him staying the way he was. However, even if he is still struggling within himself, he still is not transforming back.

Inuyasha can clearly see that Kagome is calling to him, telling him that she loves him as a half demon. That somehow seems to stop his transformation for a bit since he started to hesitate. Kaguya sees this and starts chanting once again. In his struggle, Inuyasha hurts Kagome by stabbing her arms with his claws. Seeing that Inuyasha is still transforming, Kagome's eyes tear up, and leans up to kiss the half demon.

Kaguya still is trying to coerce the demonic side of Inuyasha to overpower him. But Kagome's kiss is more powerful, and Inuyasha begins to transform back into a half demon. He pulls out his claws from Kagome's arms and the Kaguya's mirror breaks. Inuyasha then kisses Kagome back.

Some red spots begin to fall from the sky and Inuyasha then hugs Kagome tightly, saying that she is nuts because he could have really hurt her. He then says that he will stay a half demon a little longer, "just for [her]."

Inuyasha then takes back his sword, and Kaguya gets angered that a half demon is "baring his fangs" at her. The red spots then integrate and become Inuyasha's left sleeve. This angers Kaguya even further.

Inuyasha then attacks her and destroys her arm. But almost immediately after, the pieces of flesh fuse again. Inuyasha says that Kaguya is no different from Naraku, based on this.

Kohaku starts moaning that his shoulder feels like if it is burning up. Sango pulls Kohaku's kosode down and notices that where he had the lump on his shoulder, he now had a mark in the shape of a spider. Likewise, Miroku starts screaming in pain while his Wind Tunnel appears on his hand once again.

Kohaku tells Sango to get away from her, and after he tells her this, the spider starts bulging in his back and a bulge with pincers protrudes out of his back. In a flurry of an explosion soon after, Naraku reappears as having been the bulge that came out of Kohaku's back.

Kaguya tells Naraku that she thought he was dead, to which Naraku responds that he was dead all right, but just long enough to lure her out. It seems that he only faked his death in order to absorb Kaguya after she came out.

Meanwhile, Sango is beside Kohaku and she intends to cut Naraku off his back, but just as she tries to do so, Miroku pulls her away thinking that Naraku could absorb her, too.

Naraku's extremities are holding Kaguya, and he lunges toward her in order to absorb her. But just as he tries to do so, Kaguya starts chanting and the castle begins to crumble down. And much to Naraku's intentions, Kaguya's mirror absorbs him as well, but that doesn't kill him.

The gang can't just kill Kaguya because then Naraku would come out of the shadows only to absorb her and become immortal, or she will destroy them. However, in either case, Naraku still benefits. Inuyasha suggests that they kill both of them instead.

He lunges toward Kaguya, sword at the ready, and attacks her. However, his attack is once more disintegrated. While Inuyasha and Kaguya keep on fighting, Kagome asks Shippou to transform into a bow for her.

Then Kaguya grabs a hold of her mirror once again and starts chanting and the mirror soon begins to glow. Seeing that Inuyasha is in danger, Miroku decides to use his Wind Tunnel to protect Inuyasha. However he is still as ungrateful as ever and reprimands Miroku for helping him out.

Inuyasha then goes back to spar with Kaguya, meanwhile Kagome is getting back Miroku's broken staff. Kaguya then starts chanting another spell yet again, but this one makes her sword start to glow. When Inuyasha gets closer to her, Kaguya releases her attack in the form of a fireball, and Inuyashes uses the Backlash Wave to counter it. And once again, a black orb emanates from the mirror and absorbs and deflects the Backlash Wave. Kagome warns Inuyasha about this, but he seems to be weary of this fact already. He then decides to use a frontal attack by saying that it is "the only way."

Kagome, who is ontop of Kirara, gets ready to shoot Miroku's staff by using Shippou as a bow. Inuyasha then uses his Wind Scar against Kaguya. However just before the Wind Scar reached its enemy, Miroku's staff pierces through the Celestial Robe and the Mirror of Life. Kaguya is now left defenseless against the Wind Scar's potency.

As the gang is heading out, they meet a black cloud that appears to be Kaguya's substance. Apparently, Kaguya is still alive (after all she is immortal) and still wants to take over Kagome's body.

Kaguya's substance takes Kagome away from the gang, but just as the cloud is ready to consome the girl's body, Naraku appears yet again, ready to make Kaguya another part of his body. Inuyasha urges Kagome to get down so he can use his Wind Scar and rip apart Naraku's body and Miroku takes this opportunity to use this Wind Tunnel and absorb Kaguya's substance.

Miroku's staff, the Celestial Robe, Kohaku and Naraku all then disappear within the broken Mirror of Life. The gang quickly follows suit after them in order to escape back to land.

The gang then reappears on the safe land outside. They look upon Lake Motosu and notice that the Dream Castle is fading from the surface of the lake as well as the pentacle from the sky. "It's all over," Shippou comments, however, Miroku doesn't quite think so since Naraku is still dead. However, Kagome pitches in saying that at least they were able to prevent Naraku from becoming immortal, and that that is something.

Hachi and Akitoki then return to where the gang is. Akitoki goes to where Kagome is to show her that he has the Celestial Robe again. And Hachi shows Miroku both halves of his staff.

Akitoki tells Kagome that when he came back to his senses, the Celestial Robe was falling from the sky. Kagome says that it "fell back to its rightful owner, just like a puppy," (something that ticks off Inuyasha).

Despite the outcome of the battle, Sango still has a feeling of longing toward her brother. But Miroku reassures her that at least Kohaku called her 'sister' and that she should be glad for that. Miroku, being the letcher that he is, then pronounces to his dead grandfather that indeed, Kaguya was a beauty, and this enrages Sango. However, the monk tells Sango that she shouldn't worry because his heart belongs to "[her] alone" and fondles Sango's hand. A second after, a slap splits the calm of the day.

Kagome then looks up at the sky, pondering. It seems that the shooting star did grant at least part of her wish: Princess Kaguya did return to the moon. But their journey still is "far from over."

The gang begins to leave without Kagome, until she notices and runs off to where they are. She then asks why they didn't tell her they were leaving, to which Inuyasha only responds that she wouldn't have noticed since she is always "busy daydreaming."

After the credits roll by, Kagome is stretching beneath the clear day sky, saying that it feels so good to finally have some calm. Miroku then realizes something, and rushes to get in front of Sango, holding her by the shoulders. He then tells her that they should also follow suit. Sango does not comprehend what Miroku means at first, until he leans in to kiss her. Sango grows beet red, and slaps Miroku with one hand and covers her mouth with the other. Miroku uses Inuyasha and Kagome's kiss as an excuse to "reap the benefits of intimacy" between them.

Kagome and Inuyasha become embarrassed, and Kagome covers her ears (while being beet red) saying that she "doesn't know what [Miroku's] talking about." Inuyasha then says that it wasn't like "he wanted to do it do [Kagome]" which completely takes her aback. Inuyasha then defends himself by saying that it wasn't his idea and that Kagome forced herself upon him. Kagome decides to just "SIT" Inuyasha. Shippou then remarks to Inuyasha that he should "grow up."
